Please don't throw those used snuff tobacco canisters out. After they are cleaned, they make excellent small pocket sized bait canisters for fishing. You might even make a little money on them or get something for free. So this is what you should do with them:
1. After they are cleaned with just hot water and a paper towel, toss them into a plastic grocery bag.
2. When the bag is full, call local commercial bait dealers around your area. Ask them if they buy used snuff cans.
3. If you call all of the commercial bait dealers around your area and they do not pay for them, then try selling them on ebay as "bait holders." They are light and are not that expensive to mail.
4. Finally, if you do not wish to list them on ebay and none of your local bait dealers want them, then contact me by replying to this post and if I need them I will buy them.
Snuff cans have been used for many years to hold bait for fisherman. Many old timers prefer these types of canisters to others like styrofoam, or cottage cheese containers which are hard to get enough of. So, instead of tossing those empty snuff cans out, please try to keep them in circulation for awhile.
